Electric Valley Records presents Greek voyagers Wormhog’s debut LP, Yellow Sea, on three different variants of vinyl (Transparent Yellow, Blue Marbled, and Ultra Ltd “Sea Edition”). The album originally came digitally in December 2020, and Electric Valley Records issued vinyl formats on April 02, 2021.
Wormhog is a Stoner Prog band based in Athens, Greece. Being loyal supporters of everything heavy, Wormhog draws inspiration from prog, psych, metal, and grunge. Evidently influenced by their musical background, the band’s main direction in songwriting is retro grooves merged with progressive twists and swirling guitar solos.
In 2014, They dropped the first EP, Mother Worm Father Hog, which was recorded live at DStudio in Athens. After years of steady presence in the Athens underground music scene, the band released their first LP, Yellow Sea, which was once again recorded, mixed, and produced at D Studio, Athens by Mihail Karpathiou. “A trip through space, a strange eclipse of the sun, the birth of a monster, it’s fall from the sky and into the Yellow Sea,” this album vaguely unveils the origins and nature of the Wormhog beast while also exploring other themes concerning the journey of life.
The tracks “Wormhole,” “Beneath the Yellow Sea,” and “Planet Egg” chronologically recount the root and evolution of the creature known as Wormhog.
The band narrates:
“‘Wormhole’: “A strange orb travels through a wormhole. It suddenly appears in our solar system, hiding the sun. The orb hatches like an egg, and something alien comes to light.
“‘Beneath the Yellow Sea’: Wormhog fell into the Yellow Sea, and a tidal wave rose. These are the last entries of a captain’s ship log, minutes before he drowns along with his ship into the depths of the Yellow Sea.
“‘Planet Egg’: This song draws a parallel between the Wormhog beast and the darkness residing in our hearts, thoughts misinterpreted, poisoned, threatening to destroy us.”
At long last, after 05 long years in the making, Wormhog’s sonic child is polished and eager to see the world!
